My mother--she knows all the "divas"

  • Me: I hope Lauryn Hill doesn't show up 3hrs late to the concert on Saturday and declare that she's "worth it" like she did in New York.
  • Mom: What!? Why should she do that?
  • Me: Because she's a diva.
  • Mom: Huh? I should know her, then; I know all the divas!
  • Me: ...
  • Mom: Gaga Lady is a diva!
  • Me: ...Lady Gaga
  • Dad: Is Katy Perry a diva?
  • Mom: No.

Lauryn Hill // “Ex-Factor”

I miss the 90s.

I remember watching Sister Act 2 with the family and wondering who that girl was, and then after the movie was over, I’d sit there and rewind her performance of “His Eye is on the Sparrow” over and over, completely captivated.

To this day, her solo debut and only studio LP, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, is still one of my favourite albums of all time. The Fugees were pretty awesome, too.
